The latter plan to shift flights from PHX to LHR T5 soon which should mean an easy connection for a flight to FCO which will also depart from T5. Both airlines will operate 777s on the routing with seating in Economy on the snug side with AA's 3-4-3 and 3-3-3 with BA. If you've decided you like oneworld then both BA and AA have the advantage of the long haul part of the trip nonstop and direct which will save time and may be cheaper if you'd need an overnight stay when connecting in NoAm.ĭo you plan to travel in Economy? If so both BA and AA are of a muchness in terms of the hard product. If you're a fan of *Alliance then you'll need to factor in the time and cost of a positioning flight to EWR, PHL or ORD for the flight to Italy. Condor offer PHX-FRA at least three days a week - this may be seasonal, and if the service isn't well used it may not be available next year, but time will tell. ![]() AA started PHX-LHR last year, and if memory serves they fly seven days a week. Frankfurt would be another good airport for connections to any of Italy's main airport, but then you are talking about 2 stop options and you said you didn't want to spent time in airports - a view I entirely share.īA (my choice, but not everyone's) is not the only carrier with nonstop and direct flights from PHX to cities in Europe. If you are tied to other airline alliances or collect their FF points, that might sway you to other thoughts. ![]() (You would not need to do that flying through London.)įor travel within Italy, I would say that you are best using the surprisingly good, fast intercity trains, and booking directly on the trenitalia website, 3 months before date of train travel. Just make sure you have longer on the return flight for you connection as you will need to do immigration at the first US airport. Several airlines offer that option, I believe. The only other 1 stop options are likely to be flying to JFK and then to Rome or Venice from there. You can buy this on a single, multi city booking directly from BA's website (but also check the same routing on Iberia or AA's websites, as I think they offer the same actual flights but maybe for lower prices). Also, while not the cheapest, it will allow you to do 1 stop flights from home to say to Venice and back home from Rome (or vice versa). ![]() However, BA are actually rather efficient with their own connecting flights at that airport as it's their home hub. Not everybody likes BA and many are wary of using busy LHR airport for connections. AFAIK, the only airline that flies non stop from Phoenix Sky Harbor to any European city, is BA, who fly to London. ![]()
